Mizobata Junpei to play “Kudo Shinichi” for Detective Conan’s special drama

Actor Mizobata Junpei will star in a special drama for the live-action of “Detective Conan (Case Closed)” which will be aired in April.

There have been two special dramas for the live-action versions of “Detective Conan” in 2006 and 2007, and Oguri Shun played the main character, Kudo Shinichi, both times.  However, this time around, Mizobata is taking over the role, and the heroine, Mouri Ran, which was played by Kurokawa Tomoka in the previous broadcasts, will now be taken over by Kutsuna Shiori.

“Detective Conan” is a popular manga written by Aoyama Gosho, and it has been adapted to anime since 1996.  This special drama will be broadcasted as the 15th year anniversary for the anime adaption and its 15th film release, and the story of the drama will be completely original.

Mizobata commented, “I’m the generation who grew up watching the anime.  When I first received the offer, I felt pressure, but I was very happy at the same time.

The shoot for the special drama will start at the end of February.
