S/MILEAGE
S/mileage appeared on the music television show Uta no Rakuen on January 16th, but rather than performing one of their one songs, the group covered SPEED’s 1997 classic “White Love”!
For those of you who don’t recognize this iconic pop group, SPEED is a 4-member group consisting of Shimabukuro Hiroko, Imai Eriko, Uehara Takako and Arakaki Hitoe. SPEED had 4 consecutive #1 singles back in the 1990s and are best known for their song “White Love.”
All of the songs performed during the January 16th episode were winter-themed and featured a variety of retro hits, including Mori Masako’s “Ettou Tsubame,” Nitta Eri’s “Fuyu no Opera Glass” and JERO’s enka-style 2008 single “Umiyuki.” Tanaka Reina also appeared on the episode, performing her rendition of Koizumi Kyoko’s song “Kogarashi ni Dakarete.”
